Minarets

The Minarets and Mt Ritter and Banner Peak dominate the landscape from Minaret Vista near Mammoth Lakes, California. Located in the Ansel Adams Wilderness, this vast abstract of scenic wildlands was named for the preeminent landscape photographer of the 20th century Ansel Adams. The greatest contribution was as a conservationist, using his photographs to demonstrate the need to preserve the remaining wilderness.

Wyoming

Received a beautiful postcard of Wyoming from Alysa today.

US-767462-1

From Wikipedia,

Wyoming is a state in the Western United States. The majority of the state is dominated by the mountain ranges and rangelands of the Rocky Mountain West, while the easternmost section of the state includes part of a high elevation prairie region known as the High Plains. While the tenth largest U.S. state by area, Wyoming is the least populous. The capital and the most populous city of Wyoming is Cheyenne.

Cochise Head

Cochise Head is one of the rock formations located in Chiricahua National Monument, Arizona, USA.

Chiricahua National Monument was formed 20 million years ago when a fierce volcanic eruption shook the land. This eruption was one thousand times greater than the 1980 eruption of Mount St Helens and spit out two thousand feet of highly silicious ash and pumice. This ashy mixture formed a rock called rhyolitic tuff and eventually eroded into the spires and unusual rock formations of today.

Interesting information from a postcard.
